About

A small software house that sweats the details.

Cobalt Pink Software is an independent, UK-focused software house. We build progressive web apps, from everyday tools for sport, motoring and home to practical software for small businesses, and we build them to be dependable, clear and safe to rely on.

Who we are

Independent, and accountable for every app.

We're a small, independent software house. That's deliberate: it keeps us close to everything we build and answerable for how it works.

Our apps are installable web apps, so there's no app store in the way and one codebase serves phones and desktops. Some are for individuals and families. Others, like Fleet Record, are for small and medium businesses that need serious tools without enterprise weight.

Built for real people

Everyday apps for sport, motoring and home.

Built for business too

Practical tools for small and medium businesses.

Installable web apps

No app store, one codebase for phone and desktop.

Why web apps

Progressive web apps, or native apps?

A native app is built separately for each platform, usually one for iPhone and one for Android, and installed from an app store. That route gives the deepest access to a device: the latest sensors and system features, tight integration with the operating system, and the best performance for demanding things like 3D games or heavy video. The price is paid in time and money. Each platform needs its own code and its own skills, every update goes through store review, and the store takes a cut of anything sold through it.

A progressive web app (PWA) is a website that behaves like an app. It installs from the browser to the home screen, opens full screen, keeps working offline and updates itself, all from a single codebase that runs on phones, tablets and desktops. That makes it quicker and cheaper to build and maintain, and there is no store approval or commission in the way. The trade-offs are real: PWAs can't reach everything a native app can, some phone features are more limited on iPhone, and they are less visible without an app store listing. For the everyday tools we build, such as recording a match, logging mileage or checking a vehicle, those limits rarely matter, so a PWA gets the job done and stays easy to improve.

Our approach

How we work.

Start with the job

We build around what a person is actually trying to do, then cut everything that doesn't help them do it.

Keep it lean

Lean front ends and clear data structures. Less to go wrong, less to maintain and faster to load.

Work where people work

Offline-first where it matters, because a match on a windy touchline or a vehicle check in a yard won't wait for a signal.

Be honest about status

Every app on this site is marked Available or Coming soon. We'd rather say something isn't ready than imply that it is.

Safety and security

Client data comes first. Always.

Whatever we build, the data people trust us with is the most important thing in it. We design every app around protecting that data, and we hold ourselves to the standard we'd expect of anyone looking after ours.

Only what's needed

We collect the minimum an app needs to do its job, and no more. If we don't need it, we don't ask for it.

Never sold

Client and user data is never sold and never used for advertising.

Protected in transit

Our sites and apps are served over HTTPS, so what you send us can't be read on the way.

Access by need

Access to data is limited to what's necessary to run and support an app, and no wider.

Safeguarding by design

Apps involving young people, like Touchline, are designed with safeguarding built in from the start.

Quiet by default

This website sets no tracking cookies, loads no third-party scripts and serves its own fonts. Nothing about your visit is passed to advertisers.

If something goes wrong

If we ever find that client data has been put at risk, we'll tell the people affected without delay and notify the regulator where the law requires it. We handle personal data in line with UK data protection law.
